Joe has a key responsibility as COO to oversee all IM activities as “air traffic controller,” monitoring, facilitating, and ensuring accountability and on-time delivery for IM initiatives, most of which require input from multiple areas, including business partners, the IM Center, IM boutiques and/or Corporate. He also continues to serve as the interim leader of the NA Institutional team pending the appointment of a successor.

As former President and COO of The Boston Company Asset Management, LLC (TBCAM), Joe brings to his role as COO the unique perspective of overseeing an IM boutique, and understands that the boutiques’ investment strategies remain at the core of BNY Mellon's growth and are a clear differentiator for our clients.

Prior to his appointment as COO, Joe served as the Head of Boutique Relations & Consultant Coordination and the Head of the North American Institutional team for global distribution.  In both of these roles, he developed deep relationships across the business and encouraged teamwork, collaboration and quality execution.

Joe joined TBCAM in 2005 and has over 30 years of experience in the asset management industry. Before joining TBCAM, Joe was Director of Client Relationship Management and a worldwide partner at Mercer Human Resources. In that role, he was responsible for ensuring the delivery of world-class services across the firm's client base as well as the integration and build-out of a multi-practice relationship management model that provided a strategic overlay to Mercer's product set.

Prior to this, he was Managing Director of Institutional Client Relationship Management at Putnam Institutional Retirement Services; his duties included maintaining and deepening executive-level relationships with the firm's largest clients and establishing and managing strategic business priorities for the organization. Joe also held a number of senior-level positions at Putnam and other firms in the asset management industry.
