Paul is the co-head of the Alternatives Advisory Group, leads the Private Markets team and is a dual officer of the firm. Paul joined BNY Mellon in 2005 as a Senior Portfolio Manager in Wealth Management’s Private Equity Group and assumed leadership of the team in 2010. Paul oversees the sourcing, analysis, selection, placement and monitoring of all venture capital, growth equity, buyout and other partnership investments made on behalf of BNY Mellon clients. He is also the lead portfolio manager for the Fugio funds, a series of private equity and venture capital funds of funds sponsored by BNY Mellon.
Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Paul was the Chief Investment Officer at Innovation Works where he managed a seed stage investment fund focused on early-stage technology companies. Previously, Paul was a corporate attorney at K&L Gates LLP, where he provided corporate, business and tax counseling to boards of directors, management and investors in privately-held companies, including representing clients in transactions involving formation and start-up, private equity and venture capital, equity and debt financing, and mergers and acquisitions.
Paul received a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh. He participates on the advisory committees of several prominent venture capital and private equity funds and serves on the Board or the investment committees of several charitable organizations.
