Stephen Scott is the Chief Financial Officer for BNY Mellon Investment Management. As CFO, he is responsible for the financial management of the BNY Mellon's asset management and wealth management businesses.
Stephen was appointed CFO in 2016 after being named interim lead for Investment Management Finance in November, 2015. As CFO he serves as lead finance for Investment Management globally and represents Finance on the Investment Management Executive Committee. He also manages financial controls and leads external financial reporting, oversees regulations related to Investment Management, and advises on business strategy.
Stephen's career with BNY Mellon began in 2001, when he joined heritage Mellon Financial in London as a financial analyst. He subsequently served in a series of successively more responsible London-based positions, including treasury accountant, operational and management accounting manager, asset management international reporting controller, asset management international European controller. In 2008 he moved to Boston, where he served as investment management finance reporting director, and in 2011 he relocated to New York City where he served as investment management performance analytics director and cash controller prior to his appointment as interim lead for Investment Management Finance.
Recognized in 2010 as a BNY Mellon Star awardee for his leadership of the Finance department's assessment of the potential implications for BNY Mellon's asset management businesses of Dodd-Frank, Stephen served as a business analyst with UBS and Lloyds Bank and data management assistant at Barclays before joining BNY Mellon. A graduate of the University of Reading with a B.A. in History, he is a Chartered Global Management Accountant™ (CGMA®) designation holder, and completed CGMA-accredited graduate training while he was with Lloyds Bank
